Your story/location:

I’m excited about life, always up for a challenge and truly believe that the key to success is working hard, being kind, having fun and staying humble and enthusiastic.

With more than a decade of executive-level experience in PR and Marketing at major film studios and networks including 20th Century Fox, CBS Television, Discovery Channel and OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, my professional experience ranges from strategic publicity campaigns to event planning and execution, crisis communications, unit publicity, awards campaigns, talent relations, writing, pitching, change work and more.

In May of 2017, fueled by my innate desire to truly live intentionally, I moved across the country from Los Angeles to Atlanta and launched Purpose PR Group in order to help socially conscious individuals and businesses elevate their brands and achieve their goals. It has been quite the ride and I am loving the journey thus far.

Your job/role:

As Founder and President of a new PR agency, my role is constantly changing and evolving. I spend much of my days guiding overall strategy for each account, spearheading projects, building and nurturing deep and lasting relationships with clients, media and business colleagues, and managing the nitty and gritty logistical components of running an organization. Each day is different and keeps me on my toes!

Super power for social change:

My knack for helping others to realize and actualize their own personal passions and dreams

What’s on your desk?

Oh, if only you could see! I dream of organization and minimalism, but my desk is typically a cluttered assortment of colorful office supplies, snail mail, notes, snacks, essential oils and many mugs of tea. And occasionally a cat or two as well (they LOVE to lay on the keyboard...go figure)

What do you like to do for fun?

When not working, I enjoy cooking, reading, exploring, spending time with my wife and furbabies, writing snail mail and taking various fitness classes. I’m also a big fan of the performing arts and love attending musicals, concerts and shows.

What is your dream vacation?

My dream vacation would consist of being somewhere beautiful (Maui, perhaps?) with great food, a comfortable house rental, my wife and no agenda. We love to be spontaneous and bend to our whims, so a few days with nothing on the docket would be downright dreamy.

Favorite Food?

As a Gemini and food lover, this question is near impossible to answer as my cravings are ever-changing! Some of my absolute favorites though are sushi, lobster and chocolate. Truth be told, I am a complete and utter chocaholic.

Favorite book?

It’s so hard to pick a favorite. Some books I’ve recently devoured and enjoyed though are Middlesex, Love Warrior, The Glass Castle and The Gifts of Imperfection.

Favorite binge-worthy TV Show?

Survivor, Shark Tank, Broadchurch, Top Chef, Six Feet Under, Bloodline

Favorite quote:

"A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle." - James Keller

Your story/location:

I'm a Texas girl currently posted up in the Pacific Northwest. After spending six months in Seattle, my boyfriend and I are settling down and planting our roots in Portland, Oregon. In Texas, I worked as a successful newspaper editor at a paper that had been around for more than a century. A job opportunity for my boyfriend and a sense of restlessness had us pack our pitbull and our cat into an extended cab truck and move our entire lives across the country. In Seattle, I worked at a successful and small public relations firm that focused on biotechnology and urban mobility. It's incredibly exciting for me to have an opportunity to work with clients now so aligned with my personal values and interests.

Your job/role:

At Purpose Public Relations Group, my role of publicist means something different every day. One day, it can mean working with Kate to assess a client crisis  — protecting their brand and reputation. The next, it could mean finding a client's perfect speaking opportunity — reach larger audiences, passionate about their cause. My goal as a publicist is making sure that my client's message is delivered clearly, and to the right mediums, and that process can be incredibly fluid.

Super power for social change:

My super power for social change would probably be my storytelling skills. Crafting a message and delivering it appropriately is something I take great pride in. Different topics call for different methods of delivery — delicate, cheeky, bold, eccentric, fun. Writing gives me an opportunity to reel someone in and give them a piece of me, even if just for a moment.

What’s on your desk?

Due to my recent move, my desk lacks the haphazard collection of sticky notes that it normally boasts. Instead, I've taken moving as an opportunity to work on de-cluttering the space to encourage productivity and mental clarity. Right now, all it has is one small cactus, my 2018 planner and a copy of Outliers. (if you haven't read it yet, you should!)

What do you like to do for fun?

For fun, I love exploring Portland, cooking with my boyfriend, watching NFL football and honing my amateur photography skills.  Lately, I've still been focused on finding feng shui in my living room and getting these moving boxes conquered.

What is your dream vacation?

After moving, it feels like my entire life is a vacation. I always have the opportunity to check out incredible tourist attractions that are new to me, but none of that can replace the company of my family that I left behind in Texas. So for me, my ideal is less of a specific place, as it is more of a state of being — I'd love a few days with no deadlines, no to-do lists and lots of family. It'd be a joy to get to see my parents, two sisters, their husbands and my niece with no itinerary, a full fridge and — since this is a "dream" vacation— self-washing dishes.

Favorite Food?

As a foodie, this is an impossible question. My answer will vary minute-to-minute. Sweet, savory and spicy are all flavors I love and appreciate. At the end of the day, most of my favorite foods do share one prime ingredient — cheese. However, I'll try anything once and love variety.

Favorite book?

When I read, I love finding a balance between easy-to-digest and challenging — so usually I'll read two at once. I recently finished "The Art of Racing in the Rain." This book had me vehemently breaking my "no crying in public" rule, so be careful where you dive into it.

Favorite binge-worthy TV Show?

Depending on my mood, this is a revolving door of options. Shameless, Orange is the New Black, Vice Principals, Parenthood and Bojack Horseman are just a few shows I've loved recently. I think finding a balance between dark, funny, real and fake is the key to remaining content with your content.
